1. Criteria and Requirements

The criteria for prospective students enrolling in the foreigner undergraduate program are:

  • Graduated from SMA/SMK or equivalent (Bachelor) and Graduated from Undergraduate Program (Master)
  • Pass the Entrance Screening Examination (USM)
  • Pay off financial obligations
  • Have academic and/or non-academic achievements
  • Maximum age 35 years

Registration of prospective new students for foreigners can now be done online via pendaftaran.uib.ac.id. Procurement of the entrance screening test has also been carried out in person online, namely through the website cbt.uib.ac.id. Prospective new students can fill out the form online online through the registration system or take it directly to the UIB campus. As for In general, the admission requirements for undergraduate program students for foreigners are as follows following:

  1. Letter of Motivation (Ms. Word or PDF)
  2. Certificate of birth
  3. Academic Transcript and High School/Vocational High School Certificate or equivalent
  4. Passport (min. 30 months upon entering college)
  5. Medical Certificate
  6. Passport size photo
  7. Academic or non-academic Achievement Certificate
  8. Able to communicate in English and Bahasa Indonesia in addition
    (Proven by English Language Proficiency Certificate: TOEFL/TOEIC/IELTS or certificateother applicable)
2. Provisions for Visa Administration and its Types

In general, visa processing goes through 4 stages, namely:

a. Application for Study Permit (+/- 1 month)

The first stage before prospective foreign students can apply for a visa is application for a Study Permit. The process of applying for a study permit takes approximately 1 month. The application for a Study Permit is carried out by the International Relations Office (IRO). online via izinbelajar.kemdikbud.go.id page. In the process of completing the document requirements for submitting a study permit, foreign students are assisted by the IRO.

The following is Documents required for application for study permit:

  1. Health Certificate (Medical Health Certificate)
  2. Copy of Passport Identity Page (minimum valid for 18 months for visa application for 6 or 12 months or 30 months for a visa application for 24 months).
  3. Passport photo (red background)
  4. Copy of SMA/SMK Academic Transcript or equivalent
  5. Copy of Letter of Acceptance
  6. Letter of Guarantee (from UIB as sponsor)
  7. Curriculum Vitae
  8. Statement Letter (not working and not involved in political activities)
  9. Letter of Financial Guarantee (Financial Statement)
  10. Copy of Study Permit Application Letter from UIB addressed to the Directorate of Education, Ministry of Education and Culture (from UIB)
  11. Fill out the Registration Form and upload the required documents via the website izinbelajar.kemdikbud.go.id (filled in by UIB)
  12. Application for a study permit is free of charge

b. Telex Visa
After the Study Permit letter has been issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the candidate Foreign students can apply for a Telex Visa. Telex visa is a visa application approval for foreigners before foreigners can apply for a visa. Submission of a telex visa is submitted online by the IRO via visa-online.imigrasi.go.id. Besides that, IRO too is responsible for assisting prospective foreign students in completing the required documents application for a telex visa.

The following are the documents needed to apply for a telex visa:

  1. Copy of Study Permit from the Ministry of Education and Culture
  2. Copy of the Telex Visa Application Letter addressed to the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights (from UIB)
  3. Copy of Letter of Acceptance from UIB
  4. Letter of application from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) or the Consulate General
    Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in the country of origin of prospective new students.
  5. Copy of Academic Transcript from SMA/SMK or equivalent
  6. Curriculum Vitae
  7. Photograph (red background)
  8. Letter of Financial Guarantee stating that the prospective student is new economically able to live and stay in Indonesia or a statement and guarantee from the sponsor (UIB)
  9. Copy of Account Statement (must be in Indonesian or English) with the amount minimum USD 1,500 or equivalent.
  10. Copy of passport (identity page and cover)
  11. Fill out the registration form and upload the required documents through the website
    visaonline.imigration.go.id/online
  12. The fee for arranging a telex visa with an agent is IDR 1,000,000

Stages of submitting a Telex Visa:

c. Student Visas
If the telex visa has been issued, prospective foreign students can submit an application applying for a visa at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) and the Consulate General of the Republic Indonesia (KJRI) in the country of origin independently. Types of visas that can be given to students Foreigners are type C316 visas.

The following are the documents for applying for a visa for foreign students:

  1. Prospective students apply for a visa at the Indonesian Embassy in their country of origin.
  2. Student identity card
  3. Photo size 4 cm x 6 cm
  4. Passport with a minimum validity of 18 months
  5. Study permit from the Ministry of Education and Culture
  6. Letter of Acceptance from UIB
  7. Completed and signed Visa Application Form (printed on one paper back and forth)
  8. 1 (one) recent color photograph measuring 3 cm x 4 cm (attached to the Application Form) Visa
  9. Ticket reservation (plane, ship, ferry)
  10. Information on the place of residence while in the territory of Indonesia
  11. Original certificate of bank account ownership with a minimum amount of US$ 1,500 (one thousand five hundred United States Dollars) as proof of having living expenses for the applicant during located in Indonesian territory
  12. Original bank statement for transaction details for the last 3 (three) months
  13. Statement and Guarantee from the guarantor in Indonesia and a copy of the Identity Card (KTP) guarantor

d. ITAS
ITAS stands for Limited Stay Permit, and KITAS is a Limited Stay Permit Card. Both are actually the same, namely a temporary or limited stay permit visa in Indonesia for citizens foreign country. ITAS application can be made no later than 30 days after the foreign student has arrived in Indonesia. ITAS submissions are handled by the International Relations Office (IRO) at the office Batam Immigration which is located at the Public Service Mall. The IRO is also on duty to help students in completing the required documents for submitting an ITAS.

Here are the documents requirements for ITAS application:

  1. Passport valid for at least 18 months when applying for an ITAS
  2. Copy of passport identity page
  3. Copy of student visa
  4. Copy of student arrival stamp in Indonesia
  5. Certificate of Domicile
  6. Copy of Study Permit from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Indonesia
  7. Letter of Acceptance from UIB
  8. Copy of Telex Visa
  9. Letter of Application from UIB addressed to the Head of Batam Class 1 Immigration Office
  10. Letter of Statement and Guarantee from UIB addressed to the Head of Class 1 Immigration Office Batam
  11. Copy of Guarantee Identity Card (KTP) from UIB
  12. Copy of Notary Deed or UIB Establishment Permit
  13. NPWP UIB and Guarantor
  14. The filing fee for 1 year is IDR 1,600,000 (fees can change at any time according to with the policies of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Republic of Indonesia)
  15. For the record, the validity period of the ITAS is for 1 year and the ITAS needs to be extended.
    Application for ITAS extension needs to be made at least 30 days before the ITAS validity period
    end.

 

3. Types of Foreigner Scholarships

The scholarships provided by UIB for prospective foreign students are the Youth Global Scholarship.

Scholarship covers:

  1. Tuition fees for 7 (seven) semesters
  2. Hostel fees
  3. Indonesian language course tuition fee for 1 (one) year.

 

Scholarship Excludes:

  1. Fee for student visa (approx.: USD 200)
  2. Student insurance
  3. Cost of living while living in Indonesia
  4. Flight tickets

 

The selection process for qualified candidates is:

  1. Interested applicants are asked to fill out a google form (http://bit.ly/YMTIScholarship) Forms and registration;
  2. Complete the required documents, the documents requested are the same as the registration requirements
    for foreigner
4. Provisions for Foreign Tuition Fees

The provision for tuition fees for prospective foreign students is 1.5 times that of prospective Indonesian students,
so the cost breakdown range is as follows:

5. Selection and Assessment Process

The selection process for new foreign students (both for Bachelor or Master Programs) is carried out
with the following conditions:

  1. The IRO Bureau conducts an in-depth and thorough interview process (family data, motivation, achievement and language skills)
  2. Checking the background of prospective students by coordinating with the Immigration Office as well Darmasiswa committee
  3. Conduct an assessment with the related Deputy Chancellor from the results of background checks and interview.

As for the provisionas related to procedures for Re-registration, the process of Changing Majors and the process of Withdrawal prospective foreign students can be done after re-registering. The terms are the same process in the Undergraduate Program
